Reflection

Reviewing my prior posts, I realized I suck at this. Also, I realized I am still doing the same things I was and it is probably a good thing that I haven't been rambling for the last year and a half.

"I am trying to write my Honor's thesis. Since I was able to choose, I assumed my uber-interesting topic would make things easier for me. Indeed, it has not. My unorganized way of writing is not conducive to such a lengthy paper and I am starting to hate myself for it. Like, really hate myself" -Me, September 2009.

I am still working on this paper. I need only finish a few things, but this project has plagued my existence ever since this point. Not only this, but I obviously did not relay the epic nature of my hatred for this project and for my ability to plan and focus on something. This paper was ripped from my soul and printed using blood, but I finished it. I will try harder next time.

This (nearly) finished project is actually amazing and I am very proud of it. It was this paper, in fact, that got me accepted to graduate school.

Perhaps all of my blog energy was simply reallocated for this paper. I have also completed my Women's and Gender Studies thesis and am nearly finished with my English thesis so the energy is no longer needed there.

I am back. Focused, and ready to write to my heart's content.

Sorry, Blog

Apologizing for not writing is like apologizing to your grandma. No excuse is good enough and no matter what you feel guilty and slightly annoyed. Whatever.

I need to write more. I feel better after writing even the lamest of blogs so here I am.

I am currently counting down the days until my new baby gets here: 15 days left (hopefully less)! I am actually timing contractions as I type, hoping they will progress, but that seems unlikely at this point. My fingers are crossed anyway.

Unfortunately, this baby will likely result in the continued neglect of this blog...who knew such a tiny, web-cluttering blog could cause such distress in its writer!

Anyway, rest assured that it is here where I will vent, explore, explain, complain or just discuss when I indeed have the time. I need you more than you need me blog. I will not abandon you.

Defeat

Alas. As I attempted to get ready for bed, I pulled something in my vagina. I will not be scaling the stairs this evening. The couch it is. Perhaps the events of the day were just too much for my poor, tired lady parts. Sigh!

Superhero

Although a trip to the grocery store may seem like a small feat to many, to a prego with a two year old in tote it is indeed a difficult task. Not only do I have to park far away due to the holiday shoppers, but those angry people with carts seem to have no mercy for a pregnant lady. The look in their eyes says it all: "I will get that last gallon of one percent milk if my life depends on it!"

While shopping for extension cords, Owen decides that he needs a flashlight. I get him a small red one and he keeps shining it in my face. He drops it, I pick it up, he drops it, I pick it up...you get the idea. Bending over without passing gas or grunting is impossible, thus adding to my annoyance.

Walking through the holiday section is what I am most looking forward to. Since this will be our first Christmas in our new house, I must stock up on mini-lights, garland, and all of that other tacky stuff that I love so dearly. Owen deduces from all of the lights and super-awesome trains that we are at a party and proceeds to scream loudly at every shiny thing he sees. There was a lot of screaming. My fellow shoppers were none too happy about this.

I am at the front of the store, Owen is gleefully shining the flashlight in passersby faces and I realize I forgot butter. Okay, the butter is at the very back of the store. I need it to make fudge and mashed potatoes and I definitely do not want to get back out until Black Friday is over. So, I decide to take my wobbling self back to the dairy section and I buy more butter than one person should ever eat in a year...just in case.

We finally make it out of the store. Owen says to me "Mommy go night-night". Geez, even my two year old can see my exhaustion. I feel as if I actually accomplished something by completing a trip to the grocery. I guess I should be happy with my small accomplishments.
